David Odenwelder, Thirteenth Season
HAVERHILL, MASSACHUSETTS

David Odenwelder, originally from Haverhill, Massachusetts, began studying ballet, tap, and jazz at The Dance Works and New England Civic Ballet. Furthering his education he attended the College-Conservatory of Music at the University of Cincinnati, graduating Summa Cum Laude with a B.F.A in Ballet Performance in June of 2011. Prior to joining Alabama Ballet, David performed and toured throughout the United States with Cincinnati Ballet and Neos Dance Theatre.

During his time with the Alabama Ballet, his performances have included the Roper in Agnes De Mille’s Rodeo, the Cavalier in George Balanchine’s The Nutcracker, Gurn in La Sylphide: A Witch’s Revenge, Hilarian in Giselle, the Widow in La Fille mal Gardée, Blue Bird in the Sleeping Beauty and Bossa Nova in Blue Suede Shoes. He has also been seen in Twyla Tharp’s In the Upper Room, Jiří Kylián’s Sechs Tänze, Sir Fredrick Ashton’s Les Patineurs, Anthony Tudor’s Lilac Garden, George Balanchine’s Allegro Brillante, Michael Fothergill’s Chiaroscuro, and Roger VanFleteren’s Shoo Pah! Other repertoires David has performed include the Principal Male in George Balanchine’s Pas de Dix set by Fredrick Franklin, Heinz Poll’s Schubert Waltzes, Bonobo by Penny Saunders, and Lickety-Split by Alejandra Cerrudo.

This is David’s 13th season with Alabama Ballet and he is currently on faculty at Samford University, the Alabama Ballet School, and the Alabama Ballet Tappers.
