ABOUT ALEXANDRA
Alexandra Upleger trained in Ohio under Ana Lobe until 2008 when she joined Nashville Ballet. She danced with the company until 2018, during which time she performed principal roles in Nashville’s Nutcracker, Sleeping Beauty, Swan Lake, Dracula, Peter Pan, Cinderella and Western Symphony. She also performed leading rolesin ballets by Christopher Bruce and Jiri Kylian and had the pleasure of working with Christopher Wheeldon, Brian Enos, Darrell Moultrie, Gina Patterson, James Sewell and Christopher Stuart.
In 2018 she joined the Grand Rapids Ballet. Performance highlights have included Tatiana and Helena in Christopher Stowell’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Dark Angel and Russian Girl in Serenade, Jumping Girl in Who Cares and Principal Girl in Balanchine’s Allegro Brillante, principal woman in Adam Hougland’s Cold Virtues, the ensemble of Trey McIntyre’s Wild Sweet Love and the title role in Yuri Possokhov’s Firebird. She has been honored to perform world premieres by James Sofranko and Dani Rowe and enjoyed working with Andy Blankenbuehler on his only ballet.
She represented the USA at the 27th International Ballet Competition in Varna and the 2010 USA IBC in Jackson, Mississippi.
Along with teaching for the past 14 years, Alexandra was an Adjunct Professor at Grand Valley University in Grand Rapids, MI. Her full length children’s ballet, The Nutcracker, premiered in Madison, Alabama in 2020.
In August Alexandra became a certified 4pointe Level 1 Teacher with Lynne Charles.
