Sophie Waterfall, a Boston area native, began her ballet education with Jessica Wilson at Ballet Workshop New England. Her training continued in Boston with full time study at Integrarte under former Boston Ballet principal dancers Erica Cornejo and Carlos Molina. Sophie then relocated to Pennsylvania to study in the Pittsburgh Ballet Theater Graduate Program, enjoying numerous opportunities to perform with the company. Sophie’s summers have been spent at The School of American Ballet in New York City, at Kaatsbaan under Martine van Hamel, with Roberto Muñoz at Saratoga and Vail, and with Pittsburgh Ballet Theater. In addition to her classical ballet training, Sophie has experience with flamenco, salsa, and bachata, as well as Horton, Graham, and contemporary dance. Her repertoire includes Terrence S. Orr’s The Nutcracker, George Balanchine’s Serenade, Michael Pink’s Dracula, Susan Jaffe’s Swan Lake, George Balanchine’s The Nutcracker®, Roger VanFleteren’s Bonnie & Clyde, and Giselle, as well as excerpts from Raymonda, La Sylphide, Romeo & Juliet, and Coppélia. Sophie is thrilled to be returning for her second year as a company apprentice, and is looking forward to the diverse repertoire that the upcoming season has to offer.
