Sofia Scalisi
SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA

Sofia began her formal training at eight years old with the San Francisco Ballet School under Patrick Armand, where she performed student roles in Helgi Tomasson’s Nutcracker, as well as George Balanchine’s Coppélia.  In 2017 Sofia joined the Academy of Ballet’s pre-professional program, under the direction of Zory Karah.  At the Academy Sofia performed soloist roles, her favorite being Kathi in Arthur Saint-Léon’s La Vivandière.  While dancing in San Francisco, Sofia earned her B.A. in fashion design from FIDM, graduating summa cum laude at seventeen.  Sofia went on to join Tulsa Ballet’s trainee program where she was asked to perform in a company production of Ma Cong’s Jack and the Beanstalk.  Sofia spent this past season as a trainee with Ballet Idaho, performing in Joseph Hernandez’s I Lost My Love, as well as Peter Anastos’s Nutcracker.  Sofia is thrilled to begin her professional career this season with Alabama Ballet.
