Kathryn R. Martin is a catalyst for moments of transformational shift and breakthroughs. As a transition strategist and Next Chapter coach, Martin has a 30-year career leading arts and culture organizations in creating extraordinary momentum during times of change and transition.
Martin built her career as one of the top professional Interim CEOs in the country and has led ten arts organizations in that role - most recently with the Tucson Symphony Orchestra, Sharon Lynne Wilson Center for the Arts in Milwaukee, Linda Pace Foundation in San Antonio, and University of California San Diego's Artpower. Her appointment as President & CEO of the Santa Barbara Symphony is a component to the organization’s new 5-year framework and leadership triumvirate.
Named “Empowered Woman of the Year” in 2019 and “Top Leadership Coach of the Year” in 2018 by the International Association of Top Professionals, Martin is an author, entrepreneur, a respected resource on revenue generation, Martin helps organizations and leaders unlock their purpose and reveal and speak their impact - with ease, joy and momentum.
Martin has a B.S. degree in Arts Management from Shenandoah Conservatory, was principal viola of the Maryland Symphony, and currently serves on the Board of the Association of California Symphony Orchestras. After their son successfully battled brain lymphoma, Kathryn and her husband Peter moved to Santa Barbara, California in 2019.
