Hunter Sabin

Countertenor Hunter Sabin is a Texas-based vocalist recognized for his versatility on both the concert and theatrical stage. A 2022 graduate of Texas State University with a BM in Vocal Performance, he studied under acclaimed soprano Cheryl Parrish. In 2019, Sabin toured Italy as a featured concert soloist, performing in landmark cathedrals including Basilica di San Pietro, Chiesa di Sant’Agnese in Agone, Basilica di San Francesco d’Assisi, Scuola Grande di San Rocco, and Chiesa di San Gaetano.

Sabin’s operatic credits include title and principal roles in Xerxes, Dido and Aeneas (Sorceress), Cendrillon (Madame de la Haltière), Die Zauberflöte (Spirit), and Hansel and Gretel. He also served as head makeup artist and designer for Texas State Opera Theatre. An experienced ensemble singer, he performed with Texas State’s premier groups—VocaLibre and the Texas State Chorale—and sang the Brahms Requiem with Conspirare and ASO in 2019. He currently performs with Chorus Austin Chamber Choir and recently appeared as a soloist on their Austria tour.

Sabin is also an established drag performer, known throughout Texas as Aria Rey, as well as an accomplished musical theatre artist with credits including Chicago (Mary Sunshine), Little Shop of Horrors (Seymour), and The Little Mermaid (Sebastian).
