Ahmed Alom is a Cuban-born pianist, composer, and conductor, praised as “one of the most versatile artists in the Western Hemisphere” (Diario de Mallorca). His work bridges classical, jazz, and Afro-Caribbean traditions through transcription, improvisation, and cross-genre collaboration. As a composer, his music has been performed by artists including Yuja Wang, who premiered his Displaced Étude No. 1 with the New York Philharmonic, as well as Caleb Hudson, Tessa Lark, and Pedrito Martinez.
Recent highlights include serving as music director for Yuja Wang & People of Earth, culminating in the world premiere of his Piano Concerto in 2026 across major U.S. festivals. In 2025, he made his debut at Carnegie Hall as pianist and arranger for the music of Lau Noah featuring violinist Nick Kendall. He has performed internationally across the Americas and Europe and has appeared with orchestras such as the Baltimore Symphony, Indianapolis Symphony, and Orquesta Filarmónica de México.
Alom is the youngest Artistic Director and Conductor of the Washington Square Music Festival, where he curates innovative programs highlighting Latin American repertoire and new commissions. His debut album Exilio (2023) explores themes of displacement, while his ensemble projects, including Triple Cortado and CrossCurrents, investigate intersections between classical form and Afro-Cuban rhythm.
A dedicated educator, he has given masterclasses at institutions including Juilliard School and Berklee College of Music. He holds a B.M. from the Manhattan School of Music and continues advanced studies in conducting and composition.
