Austin Music Hall of Fame inductee, Ephraim Owens, began playing trumpet in elementary school, continued his music education at the Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts in Dallas, Texas, and eventually earned a music scholarship to Texas State University. After moving to Austin, Texas in 1994, Owens quickly became a fixture in the city’s thriving music scene. In addition to leading numerous jazz ensembles in the Austin area, Owens has also been a member of the Tedeschi Trucks Band since 2015. He has toured and recorded with Mumford and Sons, Sheryl Crow, Patty Griffin, Gary Clark Jr., Alejandro Escovedo, Jimmie Vaughan, Okkervil River, and many others.
