1926-2018: The first non-royal woman to have a London theatre named after her: the Gillian Lynne Theatre. Broadway: The Roar of the Greasepaint…, Pickwick; How Now, Dow Jones; CATS (Olivier Award, Tony nomination), Aspects of Love, The Phantom of the Opera (Tony Nomination); Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. Off-Broadway/Regional: Jeeves Takes Charge, Now Or Never, Imaginary Invalid (WTC). Gillian’s iconic work on CATS and Phantom has been seen and enjoyed by millions worldwide along with her direction of the television programs A Simple Man and Le Morte D’Arthur (both BBC). Awards: BAFTA, 2013 Olivier Special Award, Golden Rose of Montreux (“The Muppet Show” series), Vienna’s Silver Order of Merit in 1983 (for directing the first proscenium arch production of CATS enabling the show to tour the world), Mr. Abbot Award, Molière Award and DBE: Dame of the British Empire. Her “White Cat” solo was honored by the American Dance Machine in 2015. Her husband, the actor Peter Land proudly oversees her legacy.
