received his fourth Tony nomination and a Helen Hayes Award for his work on Dear Evan Hansen. Other Broadway credits: Rent, Grey Gardens, Next to Normal, Never Gonna Dance, If/Then, War Paint. Recent work includes Make Believe (2nd Stage, New York Times Best of 2019); Man in the Ring (Huntington Stage, Norton Award for Best Production); Our Lady of Kibeho and Angels in America (Lortel Award for Best Revival, NY’s Signature Theatre); The Low Road, The Intelligent Homosexual’s Guide… (The Public Theater). He has received Obie Awards for Rent (New York Theatre Workshop), Machinal and Dogeaters (Public Theater); directed Shakespeare  at the Delacorte Theater, and premieres, musicals, and revivals at many Off-Broadway and regional theaters, including ten seasons at the Williamstown Theatre Festival and La Jolla Playhouse, where he was artistic director in the late ’90s.
