Mezzo-soprano Arielle Rogers joins the cast of Boston Lyric Opera’s Romeo & Juliet in the role of Gertrude. Previous BLO engagements include The Handmaid’s Tale (Ruders), Pagliacci (Leoncavallo), Norma (Bellini), and, most recently, Champion: An Opera in Jazz (Blanchard). She also performed in BLO’s 2019 collaboration with Castle of Our Skins, “Crossing the Line to Freedom.” Additional opera credits include: La Ciesca in Gianni Schicchi (Puccini) and Ensemble in Madame Butterfly (Puccini), Don Pasquale (Donizetti), and Le nozze di Figaro (Mozart) with Salt Marsh Opera; Ensemble for the production and album recording of The Life and Times of Malcolm X (Davis) with Odyssey Opera; and Sissieretta Jones in the World Premiere of DIVAS, an operatic play with an all-female cast and crew with OperaHub. Additional solo credits include Messiah (Handle), Magnificat (Schubert), Gloria (Vivaldi), the title role in Carmen in Operatic Highlights with Narragansett Bay Symphony Orchestra, and ‘Link Up!’ with the Rhode Island Philharmonic Orchestra. Future engagements include BLO’s upcoming productions of La bohème (Puccini) and Omar (Giddens/Abels).
