Ramona Abbott
Narrator

Ramona Abbott has lived in Bellingham for over 20 years now, and is part of the fifth generation of her family born in Seattle. While she still prefers snorkeling to hiking, she is a true Pacific Northwest girl at heart.

Ramona and her husband moved to Whatcom County in 2001, and live in buildings they designed and he built. Ramona has an art studio that she works and plays in; whenever not working for the Symphony or acting, she can be found there gluing things to things and creating works that may never see the light of day, but keep her happy and occupied. She has, however, been on the Whatcom Artist Studio Tour off and on since moving to the 'Ham.

Ramona has been a business consultant, adjunct professor at BTC, and worked in marketing for Mount Baker Theatre before coming to the BSO. In her pre-Bellingham life, she worked in engineering, coordinating design teams across the Western United States.

You may have seen her on stage at the Sylvia Center for the Arts, iDiom, or Upfront Theaters. Her love of improvising came after taking local classes through the Upfront, and she subsequently studied in Chicago at both iO and Second City.

Growing up in a family where her father was known for saying "If it's not Beethoven, it's not music," she may have been destined for both the stage and working for a symphony orchestra. She played the flute as a youngster, and was in numerous singing groups, where she learned to overcome her early terror of performing and public speaking. She is thrilled to bring her artistic life full-circle with this performance.

However, we can't say it better than Margaret Bikman did in  this article for Whatcom Talk.
