Julia Mitchell is a master teacher and choreographer based in Richmond, VA. She trained at The Academy of Ballet in Fredericksburg and the School of Richmond Ballet, and spent summers with Boston Ballet, ABT, BalletMet, Suzanne Farrell, and Juilliard. She earned her BS in Music (ballet performance) from Indiana University in 2003, studying under ballet greats such as Violette Verdy and Julie Kent. Her performance credits include Nutcracker, Carmina Burana, Les Sylphides, Concerto Barocco, Walpurgisnacht, Les Noces, and West Side Story. Julia has taught ballet, pointe, and variations at West End Academy of Dance since 2006 and has choreographed for companies and schools across Virginia. She has created multiple original works for Charlottesville Ballet and is excited to choreograph Ameria250 this season.
