Maegan Azar (Director) Maegan McNerney Azar is a Professor of Acting & Directing and Chair of Theatre Arts at Furman University, an ensemble member at Lean Ensemble Theater, a Past President of the Southeastern Theatre Conference’s Executive Committee, and a Past President of the South Carolina Theatre Association. Select directing credits include: The Taming and Every Brilliant Thing (Lean Ensemble Theater); Sisters of Swing, The Letters, and smudge (Centre Stage South Carolina); Othello co-directed with Anne Kelly Tromsness & Julius Caesar (The Warehouse Theatre Educational Tour); Love & Information, John Proctor is the Villain, Daddy Long Legs, Romeo & Juliet co-directed with Thomas Azar, Hair: The American Tribal Love-Rock Musical, and The Prom (Furman); Antigone, Still Life with Iris, and The Comedy of Errors (California Theatre Center). Previous Movement Direction credits include: Eurydice (Warehouse), Women of Lockerbie and Dead Man’s Cell Phone (Furman), Twelfth Night (California Theatre Center). Maegan earned her MFA in Acting Pedagogy from The University of Alabama, and has trained with Accademia dell’Arte in Arezzo, Italy and The Shakespeare Birthplace Trust in Stratford-upon-Avon.
