Ami Trowell

Ami C. Trowell is a Roanoke-based playwright and theater artist whose work explores the intersection of community and performance. Trowell's play Unhuddled received a staged reading at Greenville's Center Stage theatre in their 2023 Festival of New Works. Beyond their work as a playwright, Trowell focuses on accessible arts as co-founder of Ursula's Cafe, a donate-what-you-can cafe and community arts venue in Roanoke, Virginia. They have also served as director of the Big Lick Conspiracy, a professional improv troupe they've led for six years and performed with for over a decade. Trowell will graduate from Hollins University's Playwright's Lab in May 2024.
