John Michael Cox

John Michael Cox (Black Stache) is an actor, director, & fight director in Taylors holding an MFA from the Shakespeare Theatre Company Academy at GWU. Hailed as “marvelously comic” by DC Metro Theatre Arts, and praised for his “fierce commitment” by Greenville News, he has proven his flexibility as an actor in over 60 productions within the last 20 years. Local credits include Midsummer Night’s Dream, Tempest (Vagabond Shakespeare); Macbeth, Hamlet (Greenville Shakespeare Company); Macbeth (Upstate Shakespeare Festival); Robin Hood (SC Children’s Theatre). Other credits include Doctor Faustus (Richmond Shakespeare); Measure for Measure, Comedy of Errors, Hamlet, Love’s Labour’s Lost (Hoosier Shakespeare Festival); Taming of the Shrew, Nell Gwynn, Tempest (Texas Shakespeare Festival). Formerly a full-time assistant professor of theatre, John Michael now drives for Uber, coordinates The Dark Corner Stage Combat Workshop (@thedarkcornerscw), and serves as the founding artistic director of Vagabond Shakespeare (@vagashakes). 

His daughter, Rosalind is why he smiles.
