Dominic Townsend
Bass/baritone

Dominic Townsend, a native of Lewiston New York, will be beginning his senior year at the SUNY Fredonia School of Music in the Fall, where he is pursuing a Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Performance under the tutelage of Ms. Julie Newell and Don Marrazzo. He has appeared in two consecutive opera seasons for the Hillman Opera of SUNY Fredonia, most recently in the role of Guglielmo in Mozart’s Così fan Tutte, as well as in Strauss’ Die Fledermaus as Frank. He will be seen in his third season with the Hillman Opera this Fall as John Sorel in Menotti’s The Consul. He is also a proud recipient of the Hillman Memorial Music Scholarship and the Geoff Ritcher Performing Arts Award. In summer 2024 Dominic attended the AIMS program in Graz, Austria where he worked with baritone Thomas Hampson. Dominic’s 2025 opera performances include making his Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra debut as Barone Douphol in Verdi’s La Traviata, appearing as Dr. John Watson in the world premier of 221B: A Sherlock Holmes Opera with the Western New York Chamber Orchestra, and also singing the lead role of Inman in scenes from Jennifer Higdon’s Cold Mountain at the Fredonia Opera House. He was also a finalist in the Fredonia Concerto Competition. He is an active member of the Fredonia community, previously serving as Secretary, but now serving as President of the Student Opera Theatre Association and music director of the a-cappella group Much More Chill.
