Carson Fast is a double bassist from Tacoma, Washington. She started playing double bass at the age of eleven. She quickly joined her local youth orchestra and fell in love with orchestral playing. She debuted as a soloist at seventeen on the Dittersdorf Double Bass Concerto. Since then, she has performed in chamber music and orchestral festivals across the country. In 2019, she performed as a soloist in New York through the NYU Steinhardt program. She has performed in Italy as a chamber and solo artist. Other notable performances have taken place in Tenessee, Seattle, L.A., and Chicago as a part of the featured orchestral guest for the Midwest Clinic in 2021. Carson holds a Bachelor of Music from Central Washington University and is currently attending the University of Oregon for her Master of Music Performance. Carson performs on a custom Luciano Golia double bass commissioned in 2021 and a John Norwood Lee French bow made in the mid-1980s.
