Daniel Castorena is a Houston based violist, currently in his third year pursuing a bachelor's degree in Viola Performance at the Moores School of Music under the guidance of Dr. Amber Archibald-Sešek. He began his musical journey at the age of 13, starting on violin and transitioning to viola three years later. He has been shaped by past teachers, including Wayne Brooks, former principal violist of the Houston Symphony, and Elyse Catoe.
Daniel's passion for performance is evident in his participation with prestigious ensembles such as Carnegie Hall's National Youth Orchestra, the Moores School Symphony Orchestra, the Texas Music Festival Symphony, the TMEA All-State Symphony Orchestra, the Houston Youth Symphony, and the Virtuosi of Houston.
He has performed in masterclasses with prominent artists like Milena Pajaro-van de Stadt, Masumi Per Rostad, Matthew Cohen, Amber Archibald-Sešek, Susan Dubois, Elias Goldstein, the Formosa Quartet, and Meg Roher.
