Kirk Morrison recently earned his Master’s Degree in Trumpet Performance & Literature from the Eastman School of Music, with a Performer’s Certificate, where he studied under Andrew McCandless and Wes Nance. During his time at Eastman, he performed with ensembles including the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra, the Syracuse Orchestra, and the Finger Lakes Opera. He was also an active member of the Eastman Wind Ensemble, Eastman Philharmonia, the Empire Film & Media Ensemble, and served as Principal Trumpet of the Eastman Brass Guild.
Before attending Eastman, Kirk completed a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education at Mercyhurst University in Erie, Pennsylvania, where he studied with Jacob Malec.
This August, Kirk will move to Wichita, Kansas, to join the Wichita Symphony Orchestra as Second Trumpet. This role is part of a Graduate Teaching Assistantship at Wichita State University, where his responsibilities will include performing with the Faculty Brass Quintet, teaching, and serving in other leadership capacities. He will also be pursuing a second Master’s Degree in Trumpet Performance, studying with Dr. David Hunsicker.
Outside of music, Kirk enjoys coffee, golf, video games, spending time with friends and family, and running marathons.
