Andrew Nguyen is a pianist and collaborative artist studying with Nina Scolnik at the University of California, Irvine. He was a four-year recipient of the Marjorie and Robert Rawlins Scholarship, pursuing a dual degree in Music Performance and Economics. He has been a prizewinner at a number of competitions, including the Sigma Iota Alpha Scholarship Competition, Kathryn Gawartin Chopin Competition, Lansum International Music Festival, Southwestern Youth Music Festival, CAPMT Honors Competition, MIMA Young Artist Competition, and the Southern California Junior Bach Festival.
Andrew has participated in masterclasses with Oxana Yablonskaya, Stewart Gordon, Sharon Mann, Julio Elizalde, Hans Boepple, Sarkis Baltaian, and Angela Cheng, and was a participant in the Borromeo Music Festival in Altdorf, Switzerland. He has also performed in concerts including the International Women at the Piano Conference (2023), UCI Annual Honors Concert, and in programs for the Upper Bay Philharmonic Society of OC.
As a collaborative pianist, he has been coached by Julio Elizalde, Jean Louis Hagenauer, Sarah Koo Freeman, Horacio Contreras, Dennis Kim, and Lorna Griffitt. He will pursue his master’s degree at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music with a merit scholarship where he will study with Dr. Sharon Mann.
