Studying the horn since he was 10 years old, Jordan Petan currently attends Northwestern University as a horn performance major. Currently in his junior year, Jordan has already played on numerous stages spanning the world, from Carnegie Hall in New York City to the mountains of Verbier, Switzerland. He attended LaGuardia High School and Juilliard Pre-College in New York City, where he competed in and won LaGuardias annual concerto competition playing Strauss’ first horn concerto with his school's orchestra. As mentioned, Jordan was invited to play in the Verbier Festival Junior Orchestra in Switzerland at just 18. Throughout his time at Northwestern, Jordan has been in all 4 ensembles and recently recorded an album with the Northwestern University Symphonic Wind Ensemble under the baton of Rob Taylor. Being a Chautauqua alum (‘25), Jordan joined the Chautauqua family last summer, playing pieces including Mahler’s 2nd Symphony and Barton’s Concerto for Orchestra. Jordan has studied with world-renowned teachers, including but not limited to Bradley Gemeinhardt of the Met Opera, Gail Williams, Jonathan Boen, and Adam Unsworth. His dream is to play in the Met Opera in New York City, following in his first teachers footsteps.
