Benjamin Perez (b. 1997) is a Chilean violinist and violist currently pursuing a Master of Music degree at Roosevelt University's Chicago College of Performing Arts. He studies violin with the renowned pedagogues Roland and Almita Vamos and viola with Teng Li, Principal Viola of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. Perez began studying the violin in 2009 and was admitted to the Faculty of Arts and Music at the University of Chile a year later, where he studied with Héctor Viveros, Concertmaster of the Chilean Symphony Orchestra. In 2016, he moved to Europe to continue his studies with Eva Graubin in Barcelona and Alexander ("Sasha") Rozhdestvensky in Geneva. He completed his undergraduate studies at the Schwob School of Music under the guidance of Sergiu Schwartz before continuing his graduate studies in Chicago. Perez has participated in masterclasses with distinguished artists including Rachel Barton Pine, Cho-Liang Lin, Nicolás Chumachenco, Kurt Nikkanen, and Stephan Picard, and has taken part in the Mozarteum Summer Masterclasses, the Red Rocks Chamber Music Festival in Arizona, and the Esmeraldas Festival in Quito, Ecuador.He is the recipient of First Prize in the Atlanta Music Club Competition (violin) and Third Prize in the Lagrange Symphony Orchestra Concerto Competition (viola). Perez currently performs on a rare violin made by Sanctus Seraphin in 1735, formerly owned by the american violin virtuoso Paul Zukofsky, generously loaned by Jonathan Solars Violins in New York. He also performs on a viola made by Stanley Kiernoziak in Chicago in 2026.
