Yiming William Chang is currently a freshman at the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, studying with Haesun Paik. He graduated with honors in 2025 from Walnut Hill School for the Arts in Natick, Massachusetts, where he also attended the NEC Prep under the tutelage of Alexander Korsantia. Chang has appeared as a soloist at various prestigious venues, including Boston Symphony Hall, Jordan Hall, Zipper Hall, Mary B. Galvin Recital Hall, Caroline H. Hume Concert Hall, among others. As a chamber musician, he has performed across Massachusetts, including at Calderwood Hall in the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum. Chang was recently named a semi-finalist in the International Young Artist Concerto Competition in Chicago, where he performed Ravel Piano Concerto in G Major in Ganz Hall with the SEEN Orchestra, under the baton of Maestro Conner Gray Covington. Chang is also a prize-winner of the Wiesbaden International Piano Competition in Germany, the Boston Symphony Orchestra Concerto Competition, the Bellagrande International Music Competition, among others. He has participated in PianoSummer at New Paltz on full scholarship and the Amalfi Coast Music Festival in Italy, and has performed in masterclasses with distinguished artists such as Wha Kyung Byun, Marc-André Hamelin, Jerome Lowenthal, Vladimir Feltsman, Mikhail Voskresensky, Stanislav Ioudenitch, Ralph Votapek, and Eric Lu. Dedicated to community engagement, Chang has brought music to preschools, churches, and senior centers. In his free time, he enjoys swimming, travelling, studying geography, and watching films.
