Susannah Zou

Canadian pianist Susannah Zou is an active soloist and chamber musician whose performances span Canada and Europe, with appearances in France, Italy, the Netherlands, and Portugal. Praised for her expressive playing and refined musical sensitivity, she has performed in distinguished venues including Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall, the Maison symphonique de Montréal, the Bell Performing Arts Centre, the Steinway Piano Gallery Vancouver, and the Arts and Letters Club of Toronto. 
 
A dedicated and versatile collaborator, Susannah frequently performs with instrumentalists and vocalists, bringing nuance and depth to a wide range of repertoire. She is the co-founding pianist of Trio Hiraeth and Duo Avenoir. Her artistic development has been shaped by participation in leading international programs, including the Banff Centre’s Art of Piano, the Académie Francis Poulenc, Orford Musique, the Amalfi Coast Music Festival, the Holland International Music Sessions, and Porto Pianofest. 
 
Beyond the stage, Susannah is the founder of the British Columbia Notiva Society of the Arts, a nonprofit organization created to expand performance opportunities for young musicians and to promote accessibility in music education through the development of scholarship initiatives. 
 
Susannah was a national finalist in the Canadian Music Competition in both 2023 and 2025. She has been recognized for her artistic excellence with numerous awards, including the Women’s Musical Club of Toronto Centennial Scholarship (2023–2024). In 2017, she made her New York debut at Weill Recital Hall after winning First Prize at the Crescendo International Music Competition. 
 
Susannah holds a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance with honours from the University of Toronto, where she studied with Lydia Wong. She is currently completing her Master’s degree at the Université de Montréal under the guidance of Jean Saulnier, and studies privately with André Laplante. Supported by a full scholarship, Susannah will continue her studies at the Université de Montréal in the fall in the Artist Diploma program.
