Bassoonist Megan Neuman is a rising senior at the Eastman School of Music with George Sakakeeny. She regularly performs with Eastman Ensembles in addition to the Sardonic Winds, her student wind chamber group that recently was selected as one of the winners for the Eastman Chamber Music Honors Recital. She also regularly performs with the modern music ensemble, OSSIA. Megan has also performed professionally with the Bergen Symphony in New Jersey.
In 2019 she also graduated from the Juilliard Pre-College program, where she studied with Marc Goldberg for three years.
She has been principal of many ensembles, including the Juilliard Pre-College Orchestra, the NYSSMA All-State Symphony, the LIYO, and the Sewanee Symphony. In addition, she was also selected for the NAFME All-National Honor Band, and the NAFME All-Eastern Honor Orchestra. In 2019 she won the Long Island Youth Orchestra’s concerto competition and performed the Mozart Concerto.
When she’s not practicing, Megan also makes and sells handmade bassoon reeds on her Etsy shop, ReedsByMegan.
