Kamilah Brown
Viola

Kamilah Brown is an avid performer and lover of all things creative. At Oberlin Conservatory, she is continues working towards a degree in viola performance under the tutelage of professor Peter Slowik. While in high school, Brown performed and studied at numerous festivals, including participation in masterclasses and solo performances at the Curtis Institute of Music and Interlochen Center for the Arts, studying personally under composer Jessie Montgomory, and leading the Mississippi All-State Orchestra as viola principle. Additionally, Brown sat principal of both the Belhaven Community Orchestra and the Mississippi Youth Symphony Orchestra, both in Jackson, MS, her hometown. Moving forward, Brown hopes to explore her newfound appreciation of ethnomusicology and combine her love of academic learning and music.
