Marian Mayen is a Guatemalan American clarinetist from Charleston, SC. She is an undergraduate student at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, where she studies with Christopher Pell. She has served as principal clarinet of the CCM Concert Orchestra as well as the CCM Wind Symphony. An active chamber musician, Marian’s wind quintet recently won first place in the 2022 CCM Chamber Music Competition. She was the second place winner of the Music Club Scholarship Fund Competition of 2021 as well. When Marian is not performing, she enjoys painting and playing with her two cats. She looks forward to the breadth of experience she will attain during her time with the Chautauqua Music School Festival Orchestra.
