Miriam Koby attends Oberlin Conservatory, where she is a second-year Violin Performance major, studying with Dr. David Bowlin. Previous violin teachers include Dr. Hristo Popov (2009-2018) and Dr. Stephen Sims (2018-2020). Miriam has taken part in many competitions, receiving such honors as Semifinalist in the Ensemble du Monde Young Artists Concerto Competition in New York City (2013), State Representative for Ohio in the Music Teachers National Association Senior String Competition (2018), and winner of the Akron Youth Symphony Concerto Competition (2018). Music festivals attended include InterHarmony International Music Festival and several editions of the Casalmaggiore International Music Festival. She has served as Concertmaster at Lutheran Summer Music Academy and Festival, Akron All-City Musical, Akron Youth Symphony, and Contemporary Youth Orchestra in Cleveland. Miriam has also studied piano for ten years, sung in youth choir since age six, and gotten experience in composition and conducting under several mentors.
