Matthew Musachio
Violin

Violinist Matthew Musachio is a current Master’s degree candidate at Roosevelt University’s Chicago College of Performing Arts (CCPA), where he studies with Chicago Symphony violinist Cornelius Chiu and Chautauqua faculty member Almita Vamos. He previous teachers have included James Stern, Irina Muresanu and Marilyn McDonald. Prior to moving to Chicago for graduate study, Musachio studied at University of Maryland College Park and Oberlin College and Conservatory, in which he was enrolled in the unique dual degree program, taking courses towards both a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Music in performance.

This season marks Musachio’s first time at Chautauqua. In years past, he’s participated in Green Mountain Chamber Music Festival, Berkshire High Peaks Festival, National Music Festival and Interlochen’s Summer Violin Institute. As an orchestral player, he’s performed as a Principal in the Oberlin Orchestra, as well as Concertmaster of the University of Maryland and National Music Festival Symphony Orchestras. He is especially grateful for the financial support of the Chicago Federation of Musicians towards his education.

Musachio currently concertizes on an 1892 violin by Louis Noebe.

When not practicing, performing, or teaching privately, he enjoys returning to his home city of Baltimore to catch up with family and friends, drinking cocktails, and traveling with his partner.
