Cellist Abby Hanna is currently studying with Steven Doane and Rosemary Elliott on a full scholarship at the Eastman School of Music. Before pursuing a Bachelor's degree she studied with Milwaukee Ballet's principal cellist, Ravenna Helson, for 10 years. Abby has performed in Field Concert Hall at Curtis as a part of Sphinx Performance Academy. She was also the 2019 recipient of the Civic Music Association Young Artist Scholarship. Upon graduating from high school, Abby was invited to be principal cellist of La Musica Lirica International Opera Festival and she formerly served as principal cellist of the Eastman School Symphony Orchestra for the 2022 season. In addition to cello, Abby is also continuing her classical vocal studies as a soprano and has placed in several national and regional competitions including Hal Leonard and NATS. As an Ecuadorian-American she is the first in her family to pursue a career in music, and is very grateful to her family, friends, and God, for all the love and support.
Abby is the recipient of the NFMC-New York Federation Award.
