Native of San Francisco, California, soprano Léa Nayak is a rising senior at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, studying under Dr. Gwendolyn Coleman. She was awarded the first prize (2021) and second prize (2022) in the CCM Undergraduate Vocal Scholarship Competition, was named a winner in the inaugural Schmidt Undergraduate Competition, was named a 2023 winner of the Three Arts Scholarship, and was awarded the second prize in the 2023 Matinee Musicale Nancy F. Walker Scholarship Competition. With CCM Opera d’arte she has performed the roles of Eurydice (Orpheus in the Underworld), Belinda (Dido and Aeneas), and she is slated to sing Susanna in Le nozze de Figaro in 2024. This summer, Léa will be covering the role of Lauretta in Gianni Schicchi and singing Le Feu in L’enfant et les sortilèges with the Chautauqua Opera Conservatory.
Léa is the recipient of the NFMC-Eleanor Pascoe/Hatz Award.
