Andrew Jun Chen, 23 years old, began studying the piano at age 8 with Dr. Frederick Kuok. Andrew was established in the Genesee Piano Trio starting from 2019. Having won the chance to perform in the honors chamber recitals at Eastman every semester, the Genesee Piano Trio received 3rd Prize of the MTNA Chamber Music String Performance Competition in March 2021. In July 2021, he won 1st prize of the Chautauqua Piano Program solo competition and performed in the Amphitheater. In September 2021, Andrew won 2nd prize of the Thousand Islands International Piano Competition in Cape Vincent, NY. In March 2022, he received 2nd Prize in the MTNA Stetcher and Horowitz Competition for Two Pianos. In May 2022, Andrew was a recipient of the 2022 John Celentano Award for Excellence in Chamber Music from the Eastman School of Music. Andrew attended the Kinhaven Young Artists’ Seminar in June 2023. Andrew has taken masterclasses with esteemed pedagogues including Peter Frankl, Gary Graffman, Boris Slutsky, Jon Nakamatsu, and Natalya Antonova. Andrew has graduated his bachelor’s degree at the Eastman School of Music, studying with Alexander Kobrin. He is currently pursuing his master’s degree at the New England Conservatory studying with HaeSun Paik.
