Jaewon Jun is a violinist from Seoul, South Korea currently pursuing her Bachelors of Music in violin performance at the Eastman School of Music as a student of Renee Jolles. As a soloist, she has performed with the Prime Philharmonic Orchestra. As a first prize winner of the Manhattan International Music Competition, she performed in the Carnegie Weill Recital Hall. Some of her other accomplishments include top awards in the 12th Korea Young Artist Music Concours, New York International Music Concours, East Coast International Competition. Jaewon has also participated in masterclasses for Eszter Haffner, Fabiola Kim, Mikyung Lee, Gerard Poulet, and Rodney Friend. In addition to her solo studies, Jaewon is an avid chamber musician. She is currently a member of the Luna Trio which was formed at the Eastman School of Music. The trio was selected twice to perform in Eastman’s Chamber Honors Recitals and was the national finalist of the 2023 MTNA Chamber Competition. They are currently candidates for the Certificate of Achievement in Chamber Music studying with Elinor Freer and David Ying. (Outside of music, Jaewon also takes particular interest in cognitive science, in which she is concurrently pursuing a BA degree in Brain and Cognitive Science through the University of Rochester.)
Jaewon is the recipient of the Beverly and Bruce Conner Scholarship Fund, the Tustin Memorial Fund, and The Reed Family Scholarship.
