Nicholas Gryniewski
Baritone

Nicholas Gryniewski is a Third-Year Undergraduate student at the University of Western Ontario (UWO). He is currently working towards his Bachelor of Music Degree with Honours in Voice Performance, studying under Canadian Baritone James Westman. Nicholas’ most notable roles include Melisso in Alcina (UWO), Seneca in L’incoronazione di Poppea (Opera Nuova), and most recently Pistola in Falstaff (UWO). He has also performed as a featured soloist in scenes from The Fairy Queen as the Drunken Poet (UWO), Le Nozze Di Figaro as The Count (UWO), and Sweeney Todd as Sweeney (Opera Nuova). Nicholas has also been a featured artist at Opera Nuova under the direction of Kimberly Mattice Wanat. Nicholas’ other performance credits include multiple masterclasses with artists including Liz Upchurch, David Bowser, Tracy Dahl, Neil Craighead, Micheal McMahon, John Tessier, Emily Hamper, Philip Addis, and Brett Polegato. Nicholas has received many awards as a vocalist, including a Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM) Grade 9 National and Provincial Gold Medal, 1st Place at the Ontario Music Festival Association’s provincial Diploma Class, and Honours with Distinction on RCM Grade 10. Nicholas is extremely excited to participate in Chautauqua Conservatory’s young artist program and learn everything he can from the institution’s amazing faculty.

Nicholas is the recipient of the Paul & Judith Farber Voice Scholarship and the Frederick Percival Boynton Scholarship.
