Hyerim Song
Piano

Hyerim Song is a Visiting Assistant Professor and postdoctoral resident scholar in Chamber and Collaborative Music at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music. Dr. Song earned her Master of Music and Doctor of Musical Arts degrees in Collaborative Piano from the Manhattan School of Music under the tutelage of Kenneth Merrill.

Dr. Song was associated with Martina Arroyo Foundation, one of the principal voice programs in the United States, where she coached and played for young talented singers for a number of operas and opera scenes. She has also been a vocal coach and pianist at Pittsburgh Festival Opera, New Opera NYC, New York Summer Music Festival, Soo Theatre in Sault Ste. Marie in Michigan, Euro Music Festival in Halle, Germany, INSIEM Opera in Seoul, and Seoul Metropolitan Opera. In 2023, Dr. Song has joined Chautauqua Institution Opera Conservatory serving as a vocal coach and pianist.

In 2013, Song was awarded a collaborative piano fellowship at the Aspen Music Festival and School. She was a fellowship recipient at SongFest in 2014, where she worked closely with Libby Larsen, Graham Johnson, Jake Heggie, Alan Smith, and John Musto. She coached and played for singers as a staff pianist at Classic Lyric Arts in New York. She has played for numerous vocal competitions and masterclasses with such renowned artists as Marilyn Horne, Renée Fleming, Eric Owens, Thomas Hampson, Diana Soviero, Stephanie Blythe, and Martin Katz.

She has served as a vocal coach and staff pianist at the Manhattan School of Music from 2011 to 2022, and she has worked at numerous voice studios affiliated with the Curtis Institute of Music, The Juilliard School, Mannes School of Music and New York University.
