Lauren Hallonquist
Bassoon

Lauren Hallonquist is a New York-based bassoonist in the worlds of both classical and contemporary performance. After starting formal music training as a vocalist at the age of 6, they started learning the bassoon at age 12. They hold a Bachelor of Music in Performance from Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music, where they performed most extensively as part of the IU New Music Ensemble and the IU Opera Theatre. Professional engagements have included performances with Evansville Philharmonic Orchestra, Adelphi Chamber Orchestra, Bergen Symphony Orchestra, and City Lyric Opera. Lauren is passionate in their mission of making classical music more accessible, inclusive, and meaningful through representation and advocacy. Currently, they study at the Manhattan School of Music in pursuit of a Master of Music in Classical Bassoon. Primary teachers include William Short and Bill Ludwig.

Lauren is the recipient of the Chautauqua Women's Club Elaine and Erroll Davis Scholarship for Woodwind and the Chautauqua Scholarship.
