Duo Chen is a Chinese double bassist studying at Indiana University Jacobs School of Music with Professor Kurt Muroki, where he would also take lessons with Professor Lawrence Hurst and Professor Jeffery Turner. He started playing bass at age of 16, he later attended Idyllwild Arts Academy, in which he played the role of principal double bass of the Idyllwild Arts Academy orchestra. Duo has appeared in music festivals like Interlochen summer arts festival, National Youth Orchestra of China, Sewanee Music Festival, Brevard Music center. This summer Duo is a fellow at Chautauqua Music festival. In his time at Indiana University Duo is also hired to be played in Indiana University Jacobs School of music’s concert band, symphonic band, and wind ensemble as an artistic member. An active advocator for music, Duo is now the president of Indiana University Jacobs School of Music Chinese Music Association.
Duo is the recipient of The Sack Family Scholarship and the Everett and Sarah Holden McLaren Scholarship.
