The young German Bass Fabian Jakob Balkhausen is currently studying under the tutelage of Prof. Martin Vacha at the “Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst“ in Vienna. He has also studied with other prolific teachers including Marlena Malas and Susan Graham. Fabian Jakob Balkhausen has been seen onstage in multiple roles internationally including Colline (La Bohème) and the father, Micha (The Bartered Bride), at the Schlosstheater Schönbrunn. He has also achieved great success singing the role of Sarastro (Die Zauberflöte) in multiple productions, one of them being a production during the “Klassik-Klang-Festival Berndorf”under the direction of Daniela Fally. The young Bass was able to make his debuts as the Badger (The Cunning Little Vixen) and as Masetto (Don Giovanni) at the Chautauqua Opera Conservatory in New York, USA. Fabian sang the male lead in the world premiere of Jack Dauner’s opera, “Toadette” during the “Tete a Tete Opera Festival” in London’s Cockpit Theater. This summer he will make his debut as Simone in Puccini's “Gianni Schicci.” Fabian is also an avid Song and Oratorio singer, including repertoire from the Baroque to Romantic periods. Fabian is a scholarship holder of the Richard Wagner Association.
Fabian is the recipient of The Larry and Carol Sewell Opera Scholarship and The Suzanne Gaider Sroka Scholarship.
