Vanessa Yearsley

Vanessa Yearsley (she/her/they) is a mezzo-soprano residing in New York City as a Master of Music in Classical Voice at the Manhattan School of Music. Yearsley holds a B.M. in Vocal Performance from Cal State University Fullerton and an A.A. in Music Studies from Cabrillo College. Her studies have taken her around the world from Italy, Croatia, Slovenia, Finland, Sweden, Estonia, Russia, Jamaica, and recently, Switzerland, with the Berlin Opera Academy. Her notable roles include Dorabella in Mozart’s Cosi fan tutte, L'écureuil in Ravel’s L'enfant et les Sortilèges, and La Badessa in Puccini's Suor Angelica. Yearsley was set to perform Donna Elvira in Mozart’s Don Giovanni in 2020, but was cancelled due to Covid 19. Yearsley is currently teaching privately and collaborating with up and coming composers setting her original poetry to song. In her first year at MSM, she was a choral member in Ibert's Angelique and was Nada in Ana Sokolovic's Svadba. This summer, Yearsley will at the Chautauqua Opera Conservatory.

Vanessa is the recipient of The Martha Marcks Mack Award.
