Kate Reynolds
Viola

Kate Reynolds enjoys a multifaceted musical career through her diverse background as both a violinist and violist. A St. Louis native, she first began studying violin at the age of nine with instructors Deborah Bloom and Joo Kim from the St. Louis Symphony.

An active performer on both instruments, Kate’s most recent musical endeavors include participating in the Arianna Chamber Music Festival, the Green Mountain Chamber Festival, and the Rocky Ridge Music Festival. She also attended the Chautauqua Instrumental Program last summer in 2023 and is thrilled to be returning for the 2024 season.

This past year, Kate received honorable mention in the finals of the Vanderbilt University Concerto Competition, performing Paul Hindemith’s Viola Concerto “Der Schwanendreher.” She has also recently performed as a violist and violinist in masterclasses for Edgar Meyer and Marcin Arendt, respectively. Additionally, she is a substitute violist for the Lexington Philharmonic and the Annapolis Symphony.

Under the instruction of Carolyn Huebl (violin) and Christina McGann (viola), Kate completed her Bachelor of Music degree in violin performance, with a minor in viola performance, at the Blair School of Music at Vanderbilt University in May of 2024. She will begin her Master of Music in viola performance, with a pedagogy emphasis, at the Peabody Institute at Johns Hopkins University in the fall of 2024, studying with Victoria Chiang.
