Darien Baldwin
Bass Trombone

Darien Baldwin is currently an undergraduate student at the Schwob School of Music at Columbus State University studying with Dr. Bradley Palmer. While at the Schwob School, Darien performs in the Schwob Philharmonic, the Schwob Wind Ensemble, and the internationally known Schwob Trombone Ensemble.

Darien started playing trombone in 6th grade just like many other traditional programs, but he had absolutely no musical background going into it. He truly fell in love with the music making process as well as the music community when he got to experience an All-State band in 8th grade. After that, the love continued to grow which lead to him taking multiple private lessons from many esteemed artists like Nathan Zgonc, Brian Hecht, George Curran, and Dr. Bradley Palmer. Once he saw how incredible those musicians were on both a personal and playing level, he decided to pursue music as a career with the goal of becoming an orchestral musician.

Darien grew up with parents in the military, so travelling the world and exploring new places became a deep love and desire for him. This love is why he applies and does his best to attend such fantastic and diverse programs such as the Chautauqua Institution, the Southeast Trombone Symposium, the Korean Trombone Symposium and the International Trombone Festival. He is absolutely thrilled to be able to participate in Chautauqua Institution this summer as he will be surrounded by amazing musicians in one of the most beautiful locations in New York doing what he loves!
