Originally from St. Louis Missouri, Jay Lipsutz initially began on violin, studying under Dana Edson Myers. He picked up the viola when he turned 14 and began lessons studying under Chris Tantillo of the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra. During fall of 2020, Lipsutz won the UMSL Young Artist Competition. Lipsutz has attended summer music festivals such as the Aspen Summer Music Festival (2023), Gingold Summer Music Festival (2022). Lipsutz currently attends the Cleveland Institute of Music for a BM in viola performance studying under Stanley Konopka, assistant principal violist of The Cleveland Orchestra.
