Joshua Corwin
Viola

A native of Long Island, New York, Josh Corwin has played viola since the age of eight. He began his studies in the public school setting and with local private teachers, then continued at the pre-college division of the Mannes School of Music in New York City during his high school years, and would eventually move on to the college of SUNY Fredonia in Western New York to study with David Rose, under whom his most formative training took place. The Fredonia community allowed him to explore multiple areas of interest, and he graduated in May of 2022 with undergraduate degrees in both viola performance and physics. Having practiced piano as well as viola from a young age, he also had the chance to study jazz piano at times with Dr. Nick Weiser, and has played in curricular jazz bands at Fredonia as a pianist. Josh most recently completed his master’s degree in performance at the University of Delaware, where he studied under Elias Goldstein and served as graduate teaching assistant. Josh will be moving to Buffalo in the fall to work in a technical field related to his training in physics, and to continue teaching and playing viola professionally.
