Emma Johnson
Violin

Emma Isabella Johnson, a Colorado native, began studying violin at age four. She completed her Bachelors at the Cleveland Institute of Music ('24), as a student of Ilya and Olga Kaler. Other influential teachers and mentors include Almita Vamos, Jan Sloman, Margaret Pressley, Naoko Tanaka, and Shannon Lee. Emma made her solo debut at age 14 with the Littleton Symphony Orchestra, and was a featured soloist with orchestras throughout the Colorado region. Much of this was made possible by the sponsorship of the Colorado Young Musician's Foundation. Emma was recently a national finalist in the 2023 MTNA Young Artists String Competition and is a prize winner in competitions, including the Chamber Orchestra of the Springs Young Artist Competition and the Jefferson International Young Artist Competition. As a Regional Winner and National Finalist in the Stillman Kelley Instrumental Competition, Emma was honored to be featured in the National Federation of Music Club's 100th Anniversary Gala. As a chamber musician, she has performed in the Cleveland Museum of Art Gala Performance Series, Philip Setzer and Friends Faculty Recital, the Chautauqua Institution Foundation Gala and in community outreach performances throughout Cleveland. Summer studies have included the Aspen Music Festival, Bowdoin International Music Festival and Colorado College Summer Music Festival. Emma regularly performs in the Cleveland community at weddings, galas and regional orchestra performances. Outside of music, she will most likely be found working at a local coffee shop, perfecting her latte art.
