Luke Pisani
Violin

Luke Pisani (freshman, University of Michigan) studies violin with Aaron Berofsky. Previously, he studied with Shannon Nance, Assistant Concertmaster of the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra.

In the summers of 2022 and 2023, Luke attended the Bowdoin International Music Festival in Maine. Selected accomplishments include: Chicago Violin Competition (2nd Prize), New York All-State Orchestra (Concertmaster), NYSMTA Past-Presidents’ High School Instrumental Winner, Rochester Philharmonic League Grand Prize Winner, Aldridge-Tinker Scholarship for Instrumentalists, Rochester Philharmonic League Ruth and Sidney Salzman Award for Strings, Rochester Hall of Fame Douglas Lowry Award, David Hochstein Recital Competition Winner. In 2022, Luke won solo competitions that earned him opportunities to perform concertos with the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra, the Genesee Symphony Orchestra, and the Finger Lakes Symphony Orchestra.

Luke was the 1st violinist in two ensembles that won the Syracuse Friends of Chamber Music Competition (Saturday Quartet, 2021; Sapphire Trio, 2023). The Saturday Quartet were finalists in the national Coltman Chamber Music Competition. Luke also played with the Hochstein Youth Symphony Orchestra for six seasons and served as concertmaster, conducting apprentice, and twice won the HYSO concerto competition. He has performed with the National Orchestral Institute Philharmonic and the Chautauqua Institution Festival Orchestra. He has also had the opportunity to work with with Nikki Chooi, Juliana Athayde, Nelson Lee, James Thompson, Qing Li, Yuan-Qing Yu, Robin Scott, as well as members of the Ying, Calder, Jupiter, Telegraph, Ehnes, and Cavani Quartets, and conductors Marin Alsop, Mei-Ann Chen, Manuel Lopez-Gomez, JoAnn Falletta, and John Morris Russell.
