Alvin Tsz Yin Ho
Trombone

Alvin Tsz Yin Ho is a trombonist from Hong Kong. He began learning tenor trombone at six and was later admitted to The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts Junior Program on full scholarship, in which he studied under Mr. Zachary Bond. Being a recipient of Jack G. Taylor Memorial Endowed Presidential Scholarship in Fine Arts and Butler Excellence Scholarship, Alvin has just finished his Bachelor of Music from the University of Texas at Austin Butler School of Music, under Prof. Nathaniel Brickens; and he is about to start his Master's degree at New England Conservatory, under the studio of Prof. Steve Lange.

Alvin has performed as a Guest Principal Trombonist with the Macao Orchestra, working closely with Maestro Lio Kuokman. In addition, Alvin is a substitute musician at the Houston Grand Opera, as well as a trombonist at the Austin Brass Collective. Alvin also participated in the 2023 and 2024 Chautauqua Institution Music Festival Orchestra under full scholarship.

Alvin's dedication and skill have earned him recognition in various international competitions, including winning the 2021 International Trombone Festival Gilberto Gagliardi Solo Competition, 2023 International Trombone Festival Remington competition. In addition, Alvin was a finalist in the 2023 International Trombone Festival Trombone Quartet Competition, an alternate of the 2023 International Trombone Festival's Van Haney excerpt competition, a finalist of the 2023, 2024 UT Austin Brass/Percussion Concerto Competition, a semi-finalist of the 2021 American Trombone Workshop Tenor National Solo Competition, and at the 2021 Jeju International Brass Competition.

Alvin is also a co-founder of a SoundzpaceHK, a music platform aimed at connecting Gen Z musicians from Hong Kong through collaborative performances.
