Zih-Syuan Hsiang is a performer and educator currently pursuing a Doctorate in Clarinet Performance at the University of Miami under the guidance of Mark Nuccio and Margaret Donaghue. Her passion for both performance and teaching has earned her acclaim for her versatility and musicality, showcased through extensive engagements in Taiwan and the US. She has performed with esteemed ensembles such as The Last Hundred Ensemble, South Florida Symphony, and Sun Taipei Philharmonic, drawing praise from the South Florida Classical Review for her "beauty of tone and adroit musicianship."
In addition to her orchestral experiences, Zih-Syuan has been a featured soloist at the 2023 NACWPI National Conference and has performed in frequent recitals over the years. Noteworthy performances include interpretations of Ante Grgin's Concertino for Clarinet and De-Jiu Hsu's Phoenix's Whisper for solo clarinet and wind ensemble with the NTNU Symphony Band. She also demonstrates a profound love for chamber music through her active participation in various ensembles, from trios to septets, and in curated recitals that explore diverse musical genres, including premieres of commissioned works.
Beyond her musical pursuits, Zih-Syuan is deeply committed to community engagement and education. She runs a successful online clarinet studio and contributes to the Ress Family Project, bringing music to local hospitals in Miami. During her undergraduate studies, she toured Taiwan, delivering concerts and masterclasses to middle and high school students as part of her outreach efforts. Zih-Syuan holds a master's degree from the University of Michigan, where she studied with Chad Burrow and Dan Gilbert, and completed her bachelor's degree at National Taiwan Normal University under William Wei-Leng Chen. Her academic achievements and diverse performance experiences continue to shape her comprehensive approach to music performance, education, and community enrichment.
