Marité Fuentes is a Cuban-born dancer who started her artistic education at the Ballet School of Havana “Alejo Carpentier.” In 2011, she won the bronze medal in the III Competition of Classical Ballet in Cuba, prior to graduating with honors in 2012. Marité then went on to train at the “Fernando Alonso” Cuban National Ballet School and completed her education in 2014 as a professional dancer and teacher.
Marité has danced for seven years as a professional dancer with the Cuban National Ballet (BNC), performing both classical and contemporary roles in Cuba and abroad, in countries such as Puerto Rico, Costa Rica, Mexico, El Salvador, USA, Spain, Italy, France, and China. Her repertoire includes Giselle, Swan Lake, Don Quixote, Les Sylphides, The Nutcracker, La Fille Mal Gardée, Coppélia, Sleeping Beauty, Concerto DSCH by Alexei Ratmansky, Beethoven’s 7th Symphony by Uwe Scholz, Prospera by Cathy Marston, and many other ballets of the BNC repertoire. She has performed mostly in the corps du ballet as well as roles such as Swan Lake Pas de Six, Friends of Swanhilda in Coppélia, and Spanish from The Nutcracker.
