FELIPE HOSTINS
Felipe Hostins was born in Blumenau, Santa Catarina in Brazil. He discovered the accordion through his paternal grandfather, Valmor Hostins, at the age of 3. At the age of 21, he moved to the United States, starting his international career. From an early age, Hostins explored various musical styles; thus, creating a unique style of playing and composing. This led to collaborations with great artists such as Oswaldo Montenegro, D'Angelo, Jerry Barnes, Cyro Baptista, Chrystal E. Williams, Alessandro Mannarino, Diodato, Lorenzo Jovanotti, Oswaldo Montenegro, Ella Bric, Davi Vieira, Mauro Refosco, Camila Cabello, Jorge Drexler, Kevin Johansen, Lucy Alves, and Brian Marsella, among others.
Hostins is involved in many projects and is a featured composer and performer on the album CHAMA by Cyro Baptista, as well as a performer and the co-composer of the album IMIGRA in partnership with Ian Ruas. His HINO DO CAIS was released May 2023. He co-created Forrópera, the duo and musical style combining traditional Brazilian folk and classical music, with Chrystal E. Williams in 2016 as a way to foster unity, peace and understanding through music. March 2024 will mark the Carnegie Hall debut of the duo in a world premiere written for them and the American Composers Orchestra by John Glover and Kelley Rourke.
